Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Personally I can't believe so many of you drink rums that aren't Jamaican. But I will take note of the brands anyway.

I was looking at the Wikipedia entry for J Wray and Nephew and Captain Morgan, and I'm completely confused about Morgan's provenance. Ah, well. I'm making a BevMo run today, so I'll check the label then.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I have an uncle who used to be Captain Morgan, but then he was promoted to Asst. Chief.

Rum is far too sweet for me. I have no idea what I'd mix with it to cut that.

Because when I get one with cheap vodka I can taste the difference.

You could just run it through several coffee filters.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Connie, I was refering to ordering it at a bar. At home I usually drink wine.

I figured you were. I was amused with the image of pulling out a bunch of coffee filters at a bar and straining a drink through it.

White rum too?

Damn, I hit up BevMo and forgot to look at the rum aisle.

sj, you could always get one of those Brita portable water bottles and squirt through that. Not at all weird.

I am perfectly happy ordering my cosmos with Kettle One. I was just wondering if the more cocktail aware in the group felt that was a waste of good vodka?

When I was soliciting vodka suggestions in Natter I was told to save the good stuff for sipping straight or for gimlets. But if you can taste the difference, definitely go with the taste you prefer.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Just know you're committing a culinary crime. ::eyeroll::
