Let me guess. We're in a hurry.

Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.

Okay, this has been nagging at me for a couple of days so I'm going to throw it out there and see if maybe one of you can figure it out and let me move on to thinking about other things - like my cross-country move tomorrow. In a Entertainment Weekly online story, the executive producer of the series 24 was reacting to fan discontent about yet another character being a double agent and said

'I understand how it appears [to be] tiresome and lazy storytelling, but I really would betray anyone to try to sit in our chair and figure out how to do 24 continuous, real-time episodes, without using certain devices,'

The word betray in that context makes no sense to me but I keep thinking there is a word with a similar sound that does mean dare or challenge - yet I can't come up with it. Can someone help me let this go?

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

The closest I can think of is defy.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

lcat, good luck and safe travels for your move. I'm with Hil about the word being defy. I think that executive producer has betrayal on his/her furry little brain.

ETA: correct word of my own. Gah, the gronk is mightier than the keyboard.

I'm trying to decide if I should go into the office today. I've got nothing I really need to do -- there are no new job ads posted, and my advisor just emailed to cancel our meeting, and I'm kind of at a point in my dissertation writing where I'm stuck until he answers a few questions for me. There's a colloquium that looks interesting, but after the colloquium, everybody will be going out for Italian food for lunch, and I'll end up looking anti-social when I don't go. I'm kind of tired and not feeling great, but if I had a reason to force myself to get dressed and go work, I could. I just can't come up with a reason.

Trust my rage

Who's the double agent?

I quit watching a while back and now can't be bothered to get back into it. I love Jack Bauer but the Katee Sackhoff storyline was driving me insane.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

But you know, better than killing would be brunch with Buffistas ... I'm just saying

Nods with Toddson. Ya, let's put a hush on the group talk of killing spree, especially of folks in office. Conspiracy. Yikes. Bad. Let's rise above the various idiots who made the news after healthcare passed.

Just blowing off steam verbally. It's not an organized movement.

OK. I have had another hour or so of sleep, and I'm eating matzo brei. I might be feeling more awake now.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Me too, exactly this. Was liberating to delete the series request from my DVR.

lcat, I love that you have been bothered for days by poor word choice on EW.com

I, predictably, love the purple, Erin. I've been really happy with Jessica Howard dresses that I've gotten recently, fwtw. And the description "w/ pin" makes me think you could just take that jewel thing off. I'm so happy for you! My brother and his wife ended up getting married on the day they went to get their marriage license because the judge had an opening right then, and I think that is one of many great ways to get married! Tapas, of course, is obviously always good.

Sleep sounds like the right call, Hil.
