smonster, most law schools have legal clinics. Basically, third-year law students represent clients that can't afford to pay lawyers on their own. The two elite law schools (UNC and Duke) in your area should both have clinics. (I know UNC did when I went there, but that was quite a few years ago.)
Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Despite haveing a cold that is trying to be bronchitis I organized the linen closet. amazing.
Congrats, omnis!
For a job application, I've got to relate and interpret an educational or teaching anecdote. In 250 words. I'm not quite sure what to do. I've narrowed it down to a few different stories, but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to interpret it.
My oldest sister has finished her chemo. At the end of the month she'll get her CT scan to see how things are progressing--or not, I suppose. She's planning on an Alaska cruise with her husband for May, as part of instructions to make plans for the future regardless of outcomes.
I don't think I'd be able to cope with as much grace.
Congrats, omnis!
smonster, I've got no words of wisdom other than to hope that a plague of frogs comes and pees on the ex-gf's head.
Yeah, it's a Monday.
Thinking good thoughts for your sister, Connie. And an Alaskan cruise sounds like an excellent form of future planning.
Welcome back, Shir!
Begging for Bitch help over the next couple of days: There's a job at my uni that I want and/or need to apply to--much better pay grade and prospects, plus really interesting, patient-helping and important-research-supporting stuff that dovetails nicely with all my strengths. However, I don't technically meet a lot of the required qualifications; I'm solid on some, have done equivalent stuff for most of the rest, and have no background at all in two items (though one of these is something Very Young Co-Worker is doing perfectly well right now, with no training at all, so I'm really not worried that it's beyond me).
In the next couple of days I need to write an interview-worthy cover letter. If I can get the interview, I'll have as good a chance as anyone else; I just need a letter that will get someone to handwave the lack of exact keyword matches on the resume.
Are there any Bitches who might have time before the end of this week to look at the cover letter and pass judgment? Please?
JZ, it would be really worthwhile trying to cast around and see if there's someone in your organization who might have connections there. Not just your superiors, but maybe some of the docs you work with?
JZ, I can take a look at it. hillaryre at gmail.
I'm happy to take a look at it, JZ. I've been doing a few cover letters myself lately (like Hil).
brenda, yeah, I've already asked one doctor, and there are a couple more as well as one administrator I'll nudge this week. There's an excellent chance that I know at least two people who know these people--if they know a specific name, they can request that application from the general HR office, even if the reject-a-bot program has booted it out of this particular job req.
Thanks, Hil and bt. Now all I need to do is finish a draft!
