Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Oooh. You got to study with Linklater? Sweet.

Seriously sweet. I use her vocal ladder for my personal warm-ups and have placed my voice for different characters in different places using that technique. Also, I've taught it to high school students in a voice workshop. That is so cool that you got to study with her.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Very impressed that Nora studied with Linklater.

Ooh, I should lead off with that more often! She was an amazingly funny, no-nonsense, abrupt, intense woman and an excellent teacher. The second semester I had with her the class did a collaborative acting project based on the work of Carol Gilligan. Really great. I still have that script. I remember I read from the first Anastasia Krupnik book.

Linklater's explanation of the integration of movement-voice- acting made so much sense to me. It really made the entire process so organic.

Man, I miss acting.

Always Anti-fascist!

Ebert's one is better than my ex's, of course G. didn't really have a voice to reconstruct or Ebert's$$$. Still, go, Ebert!

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I should really stop letting it get to me, but if ONE MORE PERSON on FB defriends me for NO EFFING REASON, I am going to go ape-shit in my status line.

It's really dumb, and the people who do it suck a big one, but jeebus christmas it gets tiresome.

Also, she taught freshman acting, which was great. We were the first class that came up through her acting program/progression so we were sort of the guinea pigs.

She wanted to be sure that we all were indoctrinated with the basic building blocks of her technique.

Me, too. I love her work and am very jealous you got to study with her.

Our wings are not tired.

FB defriends me for NO EFFING REASON, I am going to go ape-shit in my status line.

How do you know? I went into my son's account and defriended my parents and sisters because I was embarrassed on his behalf. I was hoping they thought he wasn't posting stuff so much anymore, or just didn't notice.

How do you know about it? The only person I have ever defriended had, as her profile picture a photo of her and a woman I loathe. I just didn't want to look at that other woman, so I defriended.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

OK, not going into the office today. Just walking back and forth across my apartment is hurting too much. If I really had to, I could force myself to work through this, but I don't have anything scheduled today that can't wait until tomorrow.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Re: Feldenkreis -- my biomechanics are wonky, in that I walk kind of funny and just don't have a lot of ease with my body, in a literal mechanical sense (not a body-image demon sense). All the cardio and weights in the world aren't going to help that. Even yoga isn't doing much good.

There's a Feldenkreis studio in my neighborhood, and every 6-8 weeks they start a new session of group classes, and offer the first class free. I got an e-mail notice that the new session (free class) is tonight. So I'm thinking of going.

BUT (everybody's got a big but, Simone!) I woke up with sniffles and a scratchy throat, courtesy of The Boy, who got a cold last week from HIS brother when they went camping. And while I feel half-okay and half-crappy, which seems physically well enough to go to a bodywork class, I would feel like Typhoid Teppy if I knowingly go to a non-required group function while full of germs.

So I'll probably pass this time, but check it out the next time around.
