I just got the sweetest note from my boss who's leaving at the end of the week (when our department is scheduled to be dismantled and sold for parts). Man, I'm going to miss working for her.
(She asked if there was anything she could do to make it easier for me to attend the "Goodbye Department" party on Thursday. It's probably not a good idea for me to respond with "LOTS OF EXTRA BOOZE" while I'm recovering from a hematocrit of 22 after 6 months of teetotaling, right?)

"LOTS OF EXTRA BOOZE AND A STEAK?"
Happy Birthday, Laura!
Jessica, that's why I tip in cash, too, even if I pay on a card.
Tipping on the card means the tip has to be legally reported as income and taxes are taken out, and frequently means that tips will be pooled and divvied up at the end of the month. Cash means I hand the guy cash and he keeps it.
Also, the card companies charge the business a fee, and sometimes the business will take the fee out of the tip.
No, it's not tommy, but some of them do it.

I didn't know that. Thanks; I usually pay and tip delivery folk in cash, anyway, but now I will make sure to always tip in cash.
Steve always leaves cash tip for all reasons listed above.
