I may be love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it.

Spike ,'Sleeper'

Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Thinking good thoughts for Drew.

Jessica, I've been thinking about you a lot. Good to see you.

I colored my hair. My bathroom looks like one of those demonstrations about how germs go everywhere.

This is the sad thing about home hair color, you see how much can be flung around. Remind me never to murder someone at home. The forensic evidence would totally be my undoing.

JZ, try some of those shower soother -- I love them when I am congested.

Oh, those really have helped me in the past with sinus / bronchial issues. Not a *fix* but an awesome soothers. As the name suggests.

Mostly lurking...

IME, doctors who are assholes about weight tend to be assholes in general, and I doubt the breakdown of asshole/non-asshole is all that different among doctors than in the population at large.

This. Absolutely this. I've had my share of interesting experiences with doctors, but the good experiences have FAR outweighed the bad.

Jessica, it's good to see your pixels. You all have been in my thoughts.

~ma to Drew! I hope they figure out what's going on soon, and that in the meantime they're giving you the good drugs.

Punishingly Intricate

Thanks, ND, that's the way the doctor bashing feels to me.

Hope your gall bladder gets fixed up quick! A good friend of mine went through that a couple of weeks ago. Sucks! But she's doing well if a little sad about having to limit her rich food intake.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I'm watching curling. I find it kind of calming.

This last end was stressful for me. If we beat Britain we have a shot at going to the finals but it's a very big if. Aren't our boys cute, though?

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

See, I really have no idea what's going on. I'm just watching weights slide over ice. It's calming.

Our wings are not tired

I've got a bunch of gall stones. Short term means low fat diet. Slightly longer term means getting my gall bladder removed.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Very glad to hear it's nothing more serious, Drew. (Gall stones - worse than gas, but better than appendicitis!)

At the risk of too much me-me-me/TMI, do any of our medical-type Buffistas know if there's any actual science behind the cabbage-leaves-in-the-bra-to-suppress-milk-production thing? I suspect it's BS, but I could really use some relief over the next few days.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I've lost about 25 pounds in the past nine months or so, and my joint pain has been getting consistently worse.

When I lost about 25 pounds last year, my blood pressure went up enough, and stayed there, leading to me going back on the BP meds that I had gone off a few years before. Fooking weird.

do any of our medical-type Buffistas know if there's any actual science behind the cabbage-leaves-in-the-bra-to-suppress-milk-production thing?

I've never heard of that. Let me poke around the intertubes and see what turns up.

It seems like it doesn't actually suppress the production of milk, but helps with engorgement from fluid trapped in interstital spaces: [link] (That's not a highly scientific web site, but the info makes sense.)
