Hello, fellow-lurker Fern! The Name of the Rose was one of the twenty books I carried around the world with me, and Nick Cave is probably my favourite artist. Mostly I read science fiction though, and in my case Nick Cave is surrounded by, like, Depeche Mode and Blondie and The Smiths (shut up, I will be sixteen forever), but nice intersection anyway!

In particular: thanks Ouise, and you should totally let me know when you're next in Montréal; I'll definitely try to muster up the courage for a coffee or glass of wine. And sooper seekrit message for megan walker: Montréal would be a great city for an F2F. Maybe by the next time it rolls around to the East Coast I'll be properly decloaked and can pimp it for real.

If not, you simply must! I just loaned my dvd to a co-worker yesterday, so I have it on my mind. Terrific film with Wendy Hiller from 1945 that LH was definitely inspired by.
