You were very nearly devoured by a giant demon snake. The words 'let that be a lesson' are a tad redundant at this juncture.

All is well that ends in pizza.

I once tried to arrest the Prime Minister. I didn't succeed.

Was he Slitheen?

Musikalicen Opfer

I am fairly certain that's fixable on a global scale, as I am pretty certain it is one of the things I turn off whenever I install Office.

You're right - it is globally fixable. Right-click on the Windows icon at the upper left and select Preferences and it's in there somewhere.

The OpenOffice word processor on Linux, however, has far fewer pretensions than Word and is in general cleaner and faster, and it supports shell-based script macros far more powerful than (most) VBscript.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I'm Julie, Jules, Julieanne (one word with an e in the middle, damnit!). Started watching BtVS when Spike went all woobie and fell hard in love when my brother made me watch Firefly because it was "by that guy who made Buffy".

Found this safe haven when Cferg mentioned in a podcast that he posted here (that doesn't count as stalkerish behaviour!) and lurk and post in Boxed Set, Procedurals, Comedy, as well as fitfully subscribing and unsubscribing to Natter as life allows.

Cilantro tastes like soap, I eat olives obsessively even though I really don't like them, Oxford commas, two spaces, and even though my third grade teachers and spellcheck tried to beat it out of me, I'm a New Englander who puts extra "u"s into words. And I will continue to do so because I can and because those third grade teachers made me feel really stupid at the time, and apparently for no darned good reason.

I'm the lead horticulturist at a 13 acre arboretum in New Jersey, my family is from Long Island, grew up in New Hampshire, born in Massachusetts. I'm the slave of Ply, whom I dug out of a pile of plywood and bottle-fed, and her sister/girlfriend Nunya (Nunya Business). They pay me sporadically with live chipmunks.

At last to guess, instead of always knowing.

We've got the coasts of Canada covered, but where are the inlanders?

Okay, fine, you talked me into it...

Hi everyone, I'm Shambles and I live in Montréal (by way of Hong Kong, New Zealand, and the United States). I have a husband, two cats, five tattoos, and writerly aspirations. I'm a web designer and animal shelter volunteer with degrees in psychology and philosophy; I've previously worked in libraries, child care, and family planning. I wear a lot of black, I read and watch a lot of science fiction, and I like to knit and crochet. I'm on Team Serial Comma, Team One Space, Team Am-itch, and I'm on the reserve bench of Team Cilantro.

I have tried delurking a couple of times, but it hasn't stuck, for the standard reasons. I still think that maybe one of these years I'll plunge on in, but for now: thank you all for the opportunity to safely dip a toe in and say hello. This community is great, and this thread has been lovely.

Cheers!

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

All is well that ends in pizza.

I'm Daniel C. Jensen, which is my real name, and the only reason I didn't use my usual dcjensen when we started buffistas.org is that I was in a take-ownership-of-my-opinions mood at the time. Plus? It has 13 letters and balances symmetrically.

I have been seriously thinking of going back to dcjensen lately, and maybe by the time you read this that will be my name, and all will be confusing.

I avoided Buffy the TV show at first because despite bad reviews, I had liked some elements of the movie, and didn't know the original writer was involved with the TV show.

After a bit I found the Buffy newsgroup and had a grand time reading and eventually posting, sometimes in very opinionated ways. Got into a few kerfuffles (One memorable one was over chivalry) and eventually got used to the whole skimming life.

Eventually I found the Hellmouth Cafe chat room, which led me to meeting Askye (And later Windsparrow.) who convinced me to stop by WX and meet a neat group of people.

I started spending a lot of time at WX and when Windsparrow joined us from the HMC, started a whole flirting thing that let back and forth between WX (and later here) and the HMC, and eventually led to my throwing caution to the wind in 2005 and flying out to meet her in Arizona.

We hit it off, and now live in Minnesota together with the two feline persons known as Harvey and Sammie. Harvey has adopted me as primary skritcher, and Sammie isn't alarmed by my presence all that often.

I don't post as much as I used to, but I still try to keep up in Bitches and a few other threads, so you might see me there.

Also? Milady Windsparrow is very wise and beautiful.
