"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

DavidS, that must mean Emmett's in middle school now?

He's at Albany High School now. But he goes through El Cerrito Plaza every day on his way home, and has lunch there half the time.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Nobody should have to live in El Centro, that place was maybe one step up from Yuma. Although, at least Yuma didn't have the Imperial fault under it.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Hello to the lurkers and de-lurkers.

Since last year, little has changed. Still in the same house, with the same husband and the same cats. Still working for NIH, though things are in a bit of flux as to where I'll be next year.(Group/lab in the process of shutting down, but they have to find me a new position. Hopefully still at NIH.)

Still attending 10-12 conventions a year. Most recently, Renovation(WorldCon in Reno) and Intervention(local con about webcomics and other on-line stuff that we day-tripped). Next up, OVFF(Ohio Valley Filk Fest)

Panda Express, sometimes. Also Rubio's and sometimes just the sandwich counter at Lucky's.

Anything for a weird life.

If there were a weirdo rapture, wouldn't the Buffistas be the first to know? The board would go significantly quieter than a tomb.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Well, I'm still here. Am I not weird enough?

Since the last Delurking thread, I had a baby! Aeryn is now 9 months old and freakishly mobile. Here she is a few weeks ago at the park: [link]

Not much else has changed - same apartment, same job.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

hooray for de-lurkers! I love you all. (in a totally non-creepy way, I swear!)

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Nobody should have to live in El Centro, that place was maybe one step up from Yuma. Although, at least Yuma didn't have the Imperial fault under it.

Also, Yuma doesn't have the...aroma that El Centro does. (Seriously, what do they farm there? Dang. Makes the smell of the Central Valley seem pleasant by comparison).

Since last de-lurking, I became a sort-of home owner. Mom desperately needed to refi, but her credit was crap, so we put me on the deed so we could use my credit for the refi. Her health is still less than great, so being close is optimal. Being a "home owner" so far has just meant more bills, but I believe that's a pretty common phenomenon.

I graduated (finally) in May 2011. BS in Organizational Behavior (Magna Cum Laude, sorry, really proud of that, so tooting my own horn, toot toot). When I started the degree, I thought it would lead to advancement in the company, but that start was about 5 minutes before the economy crashed. Now I'm just pleased that the multiple waves of layoffs have passed me by (knock wood), and keeping my head down. So yeah, still in my job (document control at a tech firm). Looking for a Master's program because employer will help to pay, so might as well. Though I have been enjoying this "free time" thing that's all the rage.

Still in San Diego, still single (having zero luck with Soul Geek or eHarmony...Geek2Geek, eh tommyrot? Hmmm). Adopted a cat left abandoned by former neighbors in December . Lost a cat in September to lymphoma. One cat that was neither new nor sick this year.

Other than that, still swing dancing, still Irish dancing (though neither as much as I should). Still wishing that some Buffistas would move here. (Seriously, it's really pretty and stuff!)
