I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Video of DragonCon's attempt to break the world record for number of people dancing to "Thriller". The dancing's a little ragged, but dude, the costumes.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Would it suck to have the name Dick Hardstaff?

Okay, reading COMMA, and just had to duck in and say, for reals, the actor who played Oliver Wood in the earlier Harry Potter movies is named Sean Biggerstaff.

With Sean being Gaelic for John, Little John and his quarterstaff might really *be* a buck-and-a-half staff. I mean, it just makes you wonder, you know?

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

So far, I've been on this conference call for 20 minutes, waiting for the Tokyo guys to dial-in.

And a rehearsal video where a guy in full Alien costume is dancing:

Electromagnetic candy! - Stark

Yay dancing alien! Totally helped me recover my mood; last night I was kept awake from 3am on with a stomach thing (I suspect a sideswipe of food poisoning; had it before, this felt VERY familiar) so today has been low-key, sore, and unhappy.

Dancing alien helped. Yay!

Did you watch the full video? It had a shot of Flying Spaghetti Monster dancing.

I saw her (assuming it's the same person) the first year she was there. I asked to be touched by her noodly appendage.

U.S. Open:

Oudin is not doing so well in the beginning of her match.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That was awesome!

How does Oudin say her name? My grandmother went to call her oo-DEHN like in French, but then was correcting herself.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Dana: she has a history of losing the first set, so it's anyone's guess. I'm avoiding the match for a while for that reason.

That's how the ESPN crew are saying it, but I have a suspicion they're all saying Safina (like SaFEENa) wrong (I thought she actually corrected people that it was SAFina, more like her brother's name). So who knows.

I'm glad Safina's out, because I don't think she should be #1 either, although she will hold onto her ranking anyway. One of the commentators said that #1 should be who you're most afraid to play, and that puts Serena quite squarely there, and probably the Williams sisters there for doubles, even if they don't make it to the finals.
