this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Why am I watching 90210? Why have I set TiVo to record Melrose Place? Why can I not accept that those are lost days of my youth?

If we had cable/satellite, I would totally watch 90210. Some things are just like crack to me, and that's one of them. Especially the college years of 90210 (them, not me). I have no idea why.

Because books.

Fingers crossed for a good day, msbelle.

It's the first day here, too. We got one off to the first day of junior high, and we've got the first-grader eating breakfast. Soon ... freedom! And QUIET.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

God I hate his school's lack of organization. Total clusterfuck. No one outside helping to answer questions or get the kids lined up; 5 minutes late opening the doors; no identification that they are with the school. Every year, the same mess.

Big day here as well, though without littles. Just have to survive the next three hours without fucking up.

In honor of the occasion, head to toe in unrelenting black.

Wasn't on purpose.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Good luck, mac!! I was walking by my local elementary school over the weekend, and they had a humdred signs up about which class is supposed to stand where and which door they are supposed to go in. There's also a "Drug Free School Zone" sign with graffiti on it: "Yeah right!"

“Not dead yet!”

It's amazing to me, the concept of actually sending kids back to school after Labor Day.

Except for my own kindergarten year, I've never experienced school starting post-Labor Day. Throughout my school years, it was the week before and until two years ago, the schools in this area had actually been starting the first week of August. Now they've shifted back to the last full week of August instead. Thank goodness.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Now I have to hide in my office until my boss talks to Big Boss about my leaving. Am scared!

Our wings are not tired.

Good luck to all having their first day of school. We're in the 4th week. They started 8/18 this year. Stupid to start so early, but we seem powerless to change. Apparently the all important FCAT test is held on a fixed date so they want to get the kiddies started as early as possible to prepare. Grrr
