I just frosted my own birthday cake as the children waited with tongues out to lick the bowl. I told Eve it was like she was a frosting vulture and then she kept saying, "Caw, caw."

Because books.

Happy birthday, flea and Tom!

We went to the Long Beach Aquarium (shark touch tank! lots of things to see! Puffins which Noah calls muffins!) and then had fish tacos. Does that seem wrong to any of you?

On Friday at the state fair, Sara was finishing her hamburger while petting a cow in the dairy barn.

Heh. Matilda distinguishes between the Bad Vultures in Snow White vs. the Good (Beatle inspired) Vultures in The Jungle Book.

My uncle farms pigs. So after eating some absolutely sublime pork chops (seriously, I don't like pork chops anywhere else) we go play with the piglets....

Walked the 5 mile circuit, worked out the shin splints (it was absolutely gorgeous out) and then went for a swim. I can now do 2 consecutive 2 laps in a row before I have to stop and wheeze. Then I can do one. And then another 2x2. I think I got 11 or 12 in, there was a point I lost count. But progress! And I actually zoned out at one point, like I used to (which is how I lost count.) God, that's nice. I love having the Y close.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

In contrast to Sarameg, I have spent the day slounging and discovering that TJs have these new things called chocolate crisps that are shaped like little Pringles chips and made of chocolate (milk or dark) and crisped rice, and are seriously addictive.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I saw those the other day and wondered how they were! They looked so good.

They are quite tasty

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

sarameg's physical fitness shames me. I went to the gym yesterday for the first time in 2 weeks (week 1 I was in Vermont, week 2 I was sick). I walked around the track (briskly) for 30 minutes, and did 1 set of squats.

My legs hurt so much today that I feel like I got run over by a (full) dump truck. Two weeks and my meagre level of fitness went back to zilch. Sad, it is.

I've started attempting morning push-ups again, and I was pathetic the first day, but I've been improving each day, so that's promising. We'll see how long I can keep it up.
