ION I bought Viewmaster Viewers for the kids. How fun are they still? Lots! I'm now looking for all kinds of cool discs for them.
Nothing on our school district's website, which is a good sign. I haven't heard any huffing and puffing around the school, either.
I am semi quoting your WTF, cashmere, in my tweet.
Not looking, but I vote KILL IT. Just to be safe.
I second this.
I respect the office.
Dude, yes. When Reagan died, I watched them fly his body in and the procession to his library to be buried. I did not respect the man, but I respect the OFFICE.
According to the Washington Post [link] , the list of possible discussion questions and related assignments given to teachers originally included having kids write letters about "what they could do to help the President." I can see how that could be seen as problematic. But that is the only reasonable objection that I have seen to this entire thing, and they changed that suggestion after people complained -- it now says to have students write about how they can achieve their educational goals.
I mean, I wouldn't relish George W. Bush reading My Pet Goat to my kids but I wouldn't keep them home from school if he was going to do it.
This. Living in a democracy with free speech means that sometimes people will get elected who you don't like. The solution is not not to stick your head in the ground and scream ZOMG SOCIALIST BRAINWASHING!!!1!!!!11!

But surely that would be an excellent opportunity for young wingnuts to learn to spell "impeachment"? These people just aren't thinking creatively enough.
Loki is roaring around, insane and killing paper. Tonight is craxy night chez sarameg.
msbelle, I couldn't figure out what the alert sound was for....
dcp, thank you! Definitely a brown widow. It's been killed along with the egg casings being destroyed.
That was a freaky big spider.
It certainly would not have been inappropriate to talk to kids about helping the President when I was a kid, but I understand that was in the dark ages. Still, it was in 2000 when my son's
entire class
went to a Lieberman rally in Boca Raton because one of the children was a family friend. Each student got a Gore/Lieberman poster and they were able to stand right in front and shake his hand. They weren't all Democrats or supporters, but the teachers and parents all thought it was a great idea for them to see the process. This was a public school 3rd grade gifted class.
After that election things changed. The Republican kids and parents joked about the posters and pins, before the election. Politics became much a more painful experience for my county after 2000.
and it has clouds made of sulfuric acid.
That's like the best part.
I have made tortilla espangole! Again!
I am 2-2 on converting the flip with plate thingie.
What I thought was sofrito was not actually what I wound up making as I had no green peppers. Nor parsley. So it's a garlicky tomato sauce. Though last time we used curried mayo and that was really tasty on the tortilla.
