Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Now tagless for your comfort.

That's a good point, Jessica.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Birth certificate scans + newspaper announcements.

GASP. Barack Obama is actually Barack Hussein Obama II! Whyyyy has he removed the "II" from his name? Is he planning on turning the country into some BACKWARDS SOCIALIST MONARCHY?

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Of course, the other half of the birther poll story is the dramatic difference in regional breakdown:

..............Yes No Not sure
Northeast.....93 4 3
South.........47 23 30
Midwest.......90 6 4
West..........87 7 6

I don't know about the other regions, but California for damn sure has a ton of Republicans (I imagine they're not exactly unheard of in the Midwest either), so the 87% (and 90%) "Yes, duh, obviously he was born here" stat has to include plenty of them. So the birthiness is really heavily concentrated in just one region.

So it's not enough my street is a mess I can't park on due to water main replacement, now it's got a gas leak (no doubt caused by the water main work) and so I anticipate more holes tonight. The BGE guy is sitting out in his van, waiting for the crew. Exciting!

Timelies all!

That cat & zombie cake is...um, well...it's something.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Lovely pictures, aurelia. They've made me homesick. I'm glad you tried the fudge. When I was a kid we used to stop for some every time we crossed the bridge to visit family.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Jenkins went on to tell Smith that "people should be given the opportunity to take care of themselves with a refund, or an advanceable [sic] tax credit, to go be a grown-up and go buy the insurance."

I would love to go buy insurance. Under the current system, though, I'm pretty sure no one would sell it to me. And all the proposed rules about insurance companies having to take everybody, or about them having to cover preexisting conditions, keep getting shot down by Republicans because they're limits on freedom.
