This "work trip" is my company's thanks to me for working 14+ days every day of my first 1.5 years of employment with them. It's been pretty much normal hours since this February but before that...not so much. So this trip is presented to me as a big "thank you" and I really appreciate it. The conference is only 3 days but I am getting a real vacation out of it.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
That's really great -- there are plenty of people who work those hours and don't get jack!
(My lawyer cousin was just telling me she was in the office 300 hours in June. Of course, she gets a fat paycheck, but she was just doing what was expected...)

Absolutely. And though my work is demanding, it's generally enjoyable. I am thoroughly fortunate these days.
In short: I would like to go to Barcelona! I even know how to say it BarTHelona!
I can't believe we're here. It's raining ash. Half of my people are out due to being sick from the air or in evac zones.
I feel like I'm going to throw up from the stench.
Yikes! Take care of yourself....
ION, these are awesome!

just wrong. also, way not to distinguish between a natural disaster and human act. idiots.
I need some major traveling. My last big trip was about 10 years ago, to Germany and Austria and *sob* only a day and a half in Prague. I'd love to see more of Prague, which is where my great grandparents were from. I haven't seen Paris or Rome. I've been to the UK many times, but I'd love to be drinking a glass of bitter at the Museum Pub while taking a break from the British Museum. It has the bog man and the Rosetta Stone, plus a long carved inscription about how Lord Elgin stole the marbles in order to save them.

Ahhh, lovely. That's where I had my first Pimms!
