This is my last week of summer vacation and I'm trying to suck all the marrow of joy out of my time off. I'm hampered by the fact that Noah's daycare is closed, so basic things, like yoga class or having to work in my classroom, are more complicated.
And I have a speeding ticket to pay. harumph.
Last night proved that the days of your kid having a tummy ache, waking you up in the middle of the night and then stealing your bed are not over.

Was I smart enough to crash on one of the other two beds in the house? No. At least my couch is comfy.
OK, less "quit" than "gave two months' notice." I'm moving to Boston to be closer to my family. I'm hoping to get a new job before that!

I think the real winners in this deal are the entertainment lawyers who will be hired to untangle the mess of Marvel characters who've already been licensed to Disney competitors in films and theme parks.

Yes! In '96, my 2nd year of grad school. We played football in the mud instead of going to class. One of the only times I've played football in my life.

Hah! I was off campus, so I drove very slowly (no stoplights! Trees down!) over to campus where there was a generator, and thus coffee. I remember it as a boring, soggy mess, except where I had to wake up every hour to make sure that the water in the sub-basement hadn't reached the basement (where I lived.) I lived off a small lake, so it was a bit of a concern. I'm not sure what we would've done if it had. Move stuff off the floor?
