This is so nice. Having everyone together for my birthday. Of course, you could smash in all my toes with a hammer and it will still be the bestest Buffy Birthday Bash in a big long while.

The one time I did have jury duty at the Daley Center (must be 12 years ago or so), our panel was called into a courtroom by 10:00, the attorneys went through and selected their 12 jurors and a few alternates, and then the clerk told us we could either go back to the jury room and possibly be called up for another case later in the afternoon, or since it was lunchtime, we could just come back to the courtroom after lunch, get our checks, and then go home.

Guess which one we chose?

I waited to go to lunch until after we were released, headed over to (then) Marshall Fields on State Street lunch, and then took the El home to Forest Park. Living further out in the 'burbs now is more of a pain to get downtown.

I would've rather gotten jury duty downtown, since it's basically the same commute for me. And there are places to eat! At the criminal court, there's basically a Popeyes and a dive bar that serves limp Wonder Bread sandwiches and Ore-Ida French fries.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Any Chicagoistas have recommendations for moving companies? The last time I moved was eight years ago....

Tom, I'm trying to remember who I used three years ago. I know that they were located in Oak Park and were priced right. They even showed up early for the move, and were quite fast in getting everything packed up (they wrapped plastic around lots of stuff, and packed up everything I hadn't gotten to in my final all-night packing binge).

I wish I could remember their name!

The place I used in '01 arrived about five hours late.

I'm mostly just moving boxes, so I might just call whoever from craigslist....

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I'm not the only one who read this as Dalek Center, right?

Concerning the Daleks, IIRC they also levitated (offscreen) in the 1st Doctor adventure, The Chase. So it's been canon for a long time.

Wasn't there an early episode where the Dr. escapes from Daleks by taking the stairs?

Yayyy! They only wanted I to S for the Daley Center, so I don't have to go downtown!! That's a big relief, because the $30 for parking was going to be a bit tight, considering payday is Friday.
