Can you check him out against medical advice?
My understanding is that insurance companies will often deny entire claims when you do that, or follow-up claims, or something. Not that they're being helpful now, but...
Jesus, msbelle. All I can offer is my thoughts and support. I'm just sick for you guys.
We have an appt. now. So if nothing else, he can be released.
Hospital people are working with my insurance, just not getting anywhere - apparently there is an expedited appeal happening, whatever that means. Adovocate lady via my HR department called me. His therapist is also calling the insurance.
JZ, my boss is supercool about all this. If he had his way, no one would even know I was out and he would sign my timesheet for full days. They will not give me any flak if I have to take family leave, but we are not there yet.
ok, I am off to the hospital to wait it out - he may get released, he may stay another night. who knows.
Okay, hang in there. We're all pulling for you.
OK, so it sounds like everyone is on your side except the insurance company? That's still shitty shitty shitty, but at least other people are working on your behalf.
I am so glad you have an understanding boss, msbelle. Sending your insurance a mental kick in the ass.
Fingers and toes crossed hard here, msbelle. I was telling my therapist about you and mac this morning, so you know my thoughts are with you guys.
In lighter news,
Dear Coworker: the reason the meeting is showing as "tentative" on your calendar is because
you accepted tentatively.
All you. Not me. xoxo.

jessica, I support you in this. The healthcare thing makes my blood boil.
msbelle, I am so sorry that insurance is being asshatty about all of this. Truly. If you need me too, even though I have no credit cards and only a passport I will figure out how to get on a plane to spend time being your person since I'm off for another two weeks.
It's this weird fucked up thing and it boggles that people think private insurance is anymore willing to approve things than a public option might be.
In other news, I spent two hours at the DMV today (no. really.) to replace my driver's license that is in my lost wallet. What is it about the DMV that is like the waiting room of the damned? It's like a land of broken people that I don't even want to be a tourist in.
I also replaced a AAA card and my costco card (they were on the way home from the DMV). Now I've got to figure out the rest. UGH.
Oh, msbelle, the situation is hard enough to deal with without added crap. This is the sort of thing I think of every time I hear one of the anti-reform nuts say, "Do you want bureaucrats making decisions about your health care?"
(too irritated to spell)
