jessica, I support you in this. The healthcare thing makes my blood boil.

msbelle, I am so sorry that insurance is being asshatty about all of this. Truly. If you need me too, even though I have no credit cards and only a passport I will figure out how to get on a plane to spend time being your person since I'm off for another two weeks.

It's this weird fucked up thing and it boggles that people think private insurance is anymore willing to approve things than a public option might be.

In other news, I spent two hours at the DMV today (no. really.) to replace my driver's license that is in my lost wallet. What is it about the DMV that is like the waiting room of the damned? It's like a land of broken people that I don't even want to be a tourist in.

I also replaced a AAA card and my costco card (they were on the way home from the DMV). Now I've got to figure out the rest. UGH.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Oh, msbelle, the situation is hard enough to deal with without added crap. This is the sort of thing I think of every time I hear one of the anti-reform nuts say, "Do you want bureaucrats making decisions about your health care?"

(too irritated to spell)

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

This is the sort of thing I think of every time I here one of the anti-reform nuts say, "Do you want bureaucrats making decisions about your health care?"

So much this. To the point where if I try to talk rationally about it, flames start coming out of my ears.

[eta: I couldn't keep my mouth shut, so I went for broad moral values instead of direct engagement. This is what I wound up posting:

62% of bankruptcies in this country are due to medical costs which insurance companies refuse to pay. How anyone can realistically be arguing that a for-profit model of healthcare makes any sense at all baffles me.

We need a healthcare system whose business model is based on *providing healthcare*. Access to medical care should be considered a basic human right and something we DEMAND from our government, not something that politicians have to "ram down our throat."

The public option is a start. It's not perfect, but it's a start.... Read More

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

YES.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Oy, msbelle, I wish I could do something to help.

You should send the story of this whole episode to all your state and national representatives so they KNOW what private health insurance is really doing!

IOmeN, I think my interview went well yesterday. Everyone was nice and I hope impressed. Too hard to read. Iowa peeps are so nice to me. Keeping fingers crossed.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I just got a letter from my House Rep that I wrote to about health care. He can't support a system that would "put federal bureaucrats between you and your doctor".

At least this way, I can have the pleasure of tearing up the letter.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

He can't support a system that would "put federal bureaucrats between you and your doctor".

What a fucking hypocrite. Where exactly does he get his health insurance from?
