'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Still vibing for the two of you, msbelle.

(As bad as this is, it occurs to me that having this crisis at this age is better than having it when he's a teenager or an adult, when self-medicating drug use would complicate things even more, not to mention having a smart parent who can make necessary decisions. I know he's in good hands with you.)

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

msbelle, My boss, who is a nurse and whose husband is also a nurse and works in the ER says that it is possible to have the uninsured portion paid for by Medicaid and you may be able to apply right in the hospital if you talk to Patient Accounts or Patient Billing or a department like that. You woudn't have to do it right this minute, but if he is admitted, you could do it while he is getting settled. I would be happy to search the hospital's website or even make some calls to see who the right person to talk to is.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

New poll finds that 39 percent of Americans want government to ‘stay out of Medicare.’

The poll also shows that an additional 15% of respondents were “not sure” if the government should be involved in Medicare. Only 46% of respondents disagreed with the proposition that the government should stay out of the government-run program.

Possibly our country is too stupid to live....

If only we could let them opt out of all the government-related aspects of Medicare. Cutting 54% out of the program costs would make the budget people ecstatic, and the anti-government people would get their wish. Everyone's happy! (Well, some would probably be happier longer than others.)

My kindness toward those who are enabling the insurance companies that do things like decline msbelle's claims? Spiraling downward.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Oh, msbelle. All kinds of ~ma headed to you and Mac.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Oh, msbelle, I wish you were closer. I could take Mac for you during the days. Emmett and I are just hanging for his last few days of summer. There would be nerf dart guns and running around.

Welcome back, Lyra!
