You know, I just... I woke up, and I looked in the mirror, and I thought, hey, what's with all the sin? I need to change. I'm... I'm dirty. I'm, I'm bad with the... sex and the envy and that, that loud music us kids listen to nowadays.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

The kids menu is things like "I am a winner" and "I am a star" and "I am a hero."

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I'll have the, I am never eating there.

(Hey, that felt kinda good.)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

How about "I am empowering my ass right out of this restaurant." as a reply. I might go there just to do that. Any good restaurants nearby to get their perplexed overflow?

Father will be here in three weeks. Oh, yay.

Job I thought sounded like it had potential--the guy won't get back to me after what felt like a convivial interview, which is punkish bad form, even if they're still in the decision making process and don't have a yes or a no yet.

Updated my migraine blog for the first time in millenia, and then poked around OkCupid and answered some solicitations, which is just weird. I think Allyson has inspired me. Problem is, too broke to date. I'd have to be "that" girl, and I don't like her too much.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Fortunately I'm past the dating stage, but I am too broke to go out drinking. However, this inspired me to look up cocktail recipes based on What's In the Liquour Cabinet and discovered the Perfect Brandy Manhattan.

As with the Perfect Martini, the "perfect" appellation means there's sweet vermouth involved.

So...

1 oz. Brandy (or in this case Cognac)
0.5 oz. Sweet vermouth
0.5 oz. Dry vermouth.

I improved it by adding the juice of a whole, very sweet, small mandarin orange. Also it benefits from being very cold. But quite yum!

ION, Emmett finished his Little League career today. Next year he's in Juniors which is not Little League. His last at bat as a Little Leaguer? Home run. Which was especially sweet since the hits were not much falling this summer for him. Even better his coach put him on the mound, and he had a dominant inning pitched with two strikeouts. This is only significant because he had a terrible/wild outing his last time on the mound in the regular season playoffs where I had to pull him in the first inning. So it definitely washed the bad taste of that outing away.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

I think we need to send MM to said restaurant, and see what happens. Should be fun.

One of the options for kids is

Almond butter & Banana open-faced sandwich on buckwheat “toast“

I wonder what makes it "toast" rather than just toast.

I just realized -- they've got a few "Mexican" dishes. (Well, if you want to count red rice topped with salsa and avocado as Mexican.) You order those in Spanish. "Yo soy bonita." "Yo soy mucho." Though the enchiladas, nachos, guacamole, and taco salad do not get Spanish names.

t edit: Is "Yo soy mucho" even proper grammar? I don't know much Spanish, but I thought that "mucho" needed another word after it.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Oh, yay, Emmett! What a way to go out on top!

Catching up, so forgive the backtrack to the Red Dawn discussion.

StE played JV soccer in high school, whose colors were bright orange trimmed in cobalt blue. The Varsity team was Big Orange, and the JV warcry was...

..."TANGERINES!"

Sorry about the leak, sarameg, but the dry basement is a good, surely.

I could only get three of the vids to play, but THANK YOU organizers who made the sign-Allyson's-book trip around the world possible. Funny thing, as long as I know you, ita, this was the first time I've heard your voice. Made me smile. Aside from the whole Allyson thing.

So, this new translator equilibrium thing all the kids are playing with? How's that different from babblefish, now?

Our wings are not tired.

Hil, I went to that restaurant once, with my cousins who were visiting from Nebraska. They thought it was amusing and I thought it was ridiculous. I'll never go back, especially knowing they're involved in Landmark. Long ago, I had a boss and colleagues who were really involved in that crap. My not wanting to be involved nearly got me fired (not kidding). I had to take it to HR and get placed under another manager.

If I'll have cereals I'll have the enregy and the will to face statistics, right?
