I am sure my parents let us win stuff when we were very young, but my grandmother and great aunts/uncles on my mom's side, they NEVER let us win anything on purpose and we played cards every day over Thanksgiving break. It was brutal games of hearts, canasta, spades.

For the most part, we don't let Emeline win. A lot of that has to do with her refusal to actually learn the rules of the game and just wanting to play it until she wins.

Over Christmas, I was playing Monopoly with my 9-year old niece and my 13-year old niece, and the 9 year old was trying to throw the game.
I let kids win up to about 8 or 9. After that, I might go a little easier on them, depending on how well they knew the game and how invested they were.
My nephew cheats, which aggravates Tom to no end. Therefore, he does not let him win.
