Spike? It's you. It's really you! My therapist thought I was holding on to false hope, but…I knew you'd come back. You're like…you're like Gandalf the White, resurrected from the pit of the Balrog, more beautiful than ever. Oh…he's alive Frodo. He's alive.

I made it to work today. Headache isn't gone, but I can handle light now. I have too much to catch up on from being on vacation to miss more time right now. Blerg.

With the talk of "early morning calls", I just realized I texted K-Bug when it was 6:30 her time. Ooops. Since she hasn't called back fussing at me, I guess it didn't wake her up.

Seriously, sparky? Ugh. If you call at 7:42 and leave a message then 8 is fine. WHAT EV.

I am freezing this morning.

Seriously, sparky?

Yep. Students! I can't figure them out, but my guess is that she'd gone back to bed. Also, I think many of us are just annoyed by phone calls - we're so used to email, IM, etc., to get our questions answered.

Speaking of students, my sister, who teaches at Santa Monica College had 51 people trying to force into one of her classes yesterday (already full, with 45 registered students).

I'm not surprised. Most of the CCs dramatically pared down Winter Quarter offerings and I know any of the big prereq classes (she teaches Calc or Calc II right>?) have been HAMMERED. My former students who are at a CC are pretty depressed, especially the one who had been accepted to Berkeley who's parents wouldn't let her go because it was too far. @@.

My friend is a dean at NVCC and they are way oversubscribed, and the state is cutting their budget.

If I remember correctly, about half the math classes at SMC were cut. My peeps at Berkeley are pretty depressed, too, but they are better off.

Yep. They look all grown up but they still think like teens sometimes.

Did you know I still get angry at random intervals on that girl's behalf?

K-Bug has to take a Nutrition class as a prereq for her major, but Sonoma State doesn't even offer the class. She can take it anywhere else and they will accept the credits, but crazy.

She also got a bad grade on her Anatomy class last semester and she wants to retake it, but she can't retake it at Sonoma, the classes there are so full that space is not given for retakes, so she will have to look elsewhere.

One of her roommates had to pick up a German class because nothing in her major or any of her GE classes were available and she needed enough units to maintain full time status and be able to live on campus.
