flea, I'm pretty sure I've got several of all three colors you want (I've got to get rid of my own stash because Hec's sensitivity to chemical smells is getting worse; we'll be transitioning to a no-strong-odor brand Plei recommended ages ago, and I've got a medicine chest shelf full of colors that need homes).
Please tell her she should sell them when she decides to change it. Preservationists of midcentury houses are ALWAYS looking for them.
I was gonna say! She could probably fund a giant chunk of the renovation just by selling off everything in the old kitchen.
Sometimes when I'm home sick I let myself wallow in all those renovation/flipping/whatnot shows, but I absolutely can't watch "Moving Up," where you watch people sell their homes, then watch the new owners redecorate, then have the old owners come back to revisit. Sometimes the redos are drastic improvements, but sometimes they're ghastly and sometimes they're just boggling. The one that flipped my "Can never watch again" switch had a couple gleefully sledgehammering a perfect, exquisitely maintained pink '40s-early '50s kitchen --
sledgehammering,
my hand to God -- and then redoing it in Early American Hunting Lodge. They were vile, vile people. Vile. Did I mention vile?
JZ, what is the no strong odor brand? I'm becoming very sensitive to chemical smells myself.
I am eating a big whitey muffin. Cranberry/orange with giant sugar crystals on top. MMMM.
sj, Plei recommended Sula or Honeybee Gardens.
ION, Hec, Emmett and Matilda just left for the first day of school post-break and the first day of preschool. Matilda is still in her footie PJs, with all her clothes in a bag, happily chattering to Daddy and seething with rage at me. She's sickish and didn't want to get up, wouldn't be bribed or cozened or bullied into it, just sobbed and raged and went simultaneously corpse-rigid and boa constrictor-squirmy, and finally just howled at me in helpless fury. Hec had to get dressed with her glued to his leg, and even though she wasn't raging at him she also wouldn't let him dress her, so off they went with her things in a sack, in hopes that she'll be a little more pliable after a car ride with Emmett and a bunch of fun music.
I can't blame her--getting up early sucks, rushing sucks, and new places are stressful as can be--but, still and all, that well and truly blew chunks.
I'm eating a sausage egg and cheese McGriddle. It's the first time I've had one this decade.
JZ, I'd be happy to paypal you - let's take to email.
Oh, the traumas of youth.
Random, Much?: Wrigley Field Flyover X-Wing Cake [Geeky Cake]
Behold this bold (and, yes: detailed) piece of groom’s cake randomness from Mark of Piece of Cake. In case there’s any confusion, that is–indeed–an X-Wing fighter flying over a Wrigley Field cake.
…it was actually a groom’s cake for a wedding this past summer. From what I hear, is that he loved it, and didn’t cut into it, until the next day with all their family.
wtf is a "groom's cake"?
I love the nail polish exchange! I may join in.
While we're talking nails, anyone have a product rec or two for nails that peel? I've been keeping mine short and using OPI's Nail Envy as a base coat, but the peeling will not stop. And I can't resist peeling them. Will consider another base coat or pills.
groom's cake are an additional cake usually at a reception. Smaller and often chosen by the groom.
