"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

If all you have back in coach is a fountain pen, you can't blow shit up, so you might as well play sudoku with it.

Words to live by.

Oooh DO IT!

I would love to. And yeah, I would be way more into the floats themselves than the OMGPEOPLE of the parade.

But I have this elaborate television watching plan for NYD. First, sleeping in, because we'll have some of the kids over for NYE, which I did by accident. Then watching the parade. Then the NHL Winter Classic. Then the Rose Bowl itself, go buckeyes. So I have to get any productivity done before that day, because I go back to work the day after. Hee.

I am so amped about the Winter Classic at Fenway. There's just something so fun and special about hockey played outdoors. I get all childhood nostalgic about skating on the pond, and I never played hockey. But somehow, it's just how it should be.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Pretty soon it'll be a Con Air-type setup.

Funniest movie. Not that I think they meant it to be. But I only watch it for the lulz.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

I'm pretty sure bomber's main name will be "Underpants Bomber". I see that all over the place. And yeah, TSA response to everything is to add to the misery of air travel in a way that does not actually make us more secure. It is almost as though the intent was to get public more and more accustomed to following senseless orders. Don't feel like wearing a tinfoil hat today, so I'll just put it down to "security theater is cheaper and yields more political benefit than actual security".

[On edit] One good thing though is that the TSA has dropped the idea of keeping people pinned to their seats the last hour. You will be able to get up to pee, and also use your laptop right up to the point they make you stop now. Obama may be continuing most of Bush's mistakes on a lot of big important issues, but at least he avoids petty pointless viciousness.

The PotC film that is on ABC tonight is...bizarre. I've not seen the other films.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

It's the third one? Yeah, that one's weird even if you have seen the others.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The PotC film that is on ABC tonight is...bizarre

You didn't happen to see a scene with multiple Johnny Depps, did you? It pretty much sets the bar for Pirates and bizarre.

I just booked the hotel for my sister and me for the funeral. It's drama that we're even staying in a hotel. At least my mother's not. That would have been too much. It would have been cool to try a Priceline thingummy, but I just went with the selection. Schmancy-looking big chain downtown.

Yeah, I saw that. Was confused. And then the crabrocks.

Good luck on deflecting the drama, ita.

Ok, just tried returning Ms. Louise's call. Got voicemail. She sounds so beaten down in it. Even her usual praise-the-lords sound resigned. Sigh.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

And this is our plan to, except I think we are screaming GO DUCKS! I mean, yeah, I'm from Ohio but I like the Ducks for no rational reason. In other words, I'm trying to tempt you to come and visit. The limiting factor would be, of course, work the next day.

If we have no visitors on NY, then we may forego some of the tv and go to the aquarium instead.
