Holy shit, $75??? That's bananas. I don't spend that much on relatives.

My parents are lucky if I spend that much each on them--I sure as hell wouldn't spend that much on anyone else in my life.
I'm making my parents a Christmas mix, and wondering if it's weird to have two versions of the same song, in different styles?
Huh. Just found out a guy I kinda sorta but not really work with was laid off yesterday. I always wondered what he really did here and I guess they couldn't keep him busy, so his job was eliminated.
I'm not sure if it is better to be laid off right before or after a holiday. Before, you have a sucky holiday but after you probably wish you could have changed what you spent on the holiday. Either way, it sucks.
When we were told this morning, our little group was at least told that our jobs aren't in danger of elimination. At least at the moment.
Yeah, I thought it was crazy ... and so did the advice columnist.
I once worked in an office where a couple of people got carried away when choosing a wedding present from "everyone" for one of the women ...that came to more than was comfortable to me. But that was a one-time deal.
But if I got laid off right now, I've probably already done the bulk of my holiday spending. So it gets to suck and I'm out the dosh anyway. And I can't really use the time to job hunt.
The past two days were crazy long because we had vendors in and we had to squeeze every paid hour out of them. Now I miss them. They were funny guys. Turns out they even kept their snarky comments in the excel spreadsheet we're using to manage the data migration. I like the irreverent vibe. Especially when it's matched with brains, like it obviously is.
Our Holiday lunch is today, and the personnel manager person just sent out an email saying the office is completely and officially closed from 12:15 to 3:00.
I guess they want us all to go.

Not at all! I've got a Starbucks holiday album with two versions of "Little Drummer Boy" on it, one by Bing and one sung in German by Marlene Dietrich.
We didn't get to go to the team lunch or the office lunch, because the vendors were in and we were squeezing and working through lunch. Which, illegal, but I do it most days anyway. Boss bought us lunch both days, so I'm not even remotely complaining.
In her office they routinely collected $75 from each person for a gift for the boss and then, for a "Holiday Party" went out to a very expensive restaurant, at each individual's expense.
...The fuck?

Do it!

I enjoy the Dandy Warhols version.
