Gavin, ask yourself this question. What are you more afraid of, a giant murderous demon or me?

Our wings are not tired.

A friend from college who had been living in Colorado showed up--due to Facebook. I hadn't seen her in about 15 years and as soon as she saw me she burst into tears--it was so lovely to catch up.

Sometimes I hate Facebook, but I absolutely love stories like this.

Megan and I ended up seeing a movie last night instead of going to get a Christmas tree. And now I lack the motivation to go get one. As I was stirring the steelcut oatmeal this morning, I burst into tears. I guess it's long overdue, but gdammit I miss Steve. I think my mind has been playing games with me, and it's been pretending he's just away on a long business trip. And now it's just suddenly dropping a reality ball the size of Boston Common into my lap and I'm not doing too well. I'll snap out of it, I always manage to, but. Part of me is wishing I'd planned a big Christmas party this year, because then at least I'd have a reason to get a tree and decorate, etc. But I didn't want to add any pressure. Maybe I need the pressure.

are you trying to tell us something?

Hmm, I made the same play on Willow's and Buffy's words last year, but then nobody seemed to comment about how my weight is not the same as the average Hollywood actress weight or something. Who knew that being careful with one's BtVS quotes is one of the results of marriage?

So, alas, still tiny. H is sometime still surprised to find out how short I am when standing next to him ("Hey, you really *are* short!"), and thankfully, unlike a friend who told me recently about how she had gained over 20 pounds in the first few months following her wedding (her husband had lost pretty much the same amount - they sorta got closer in weights, as she had adapted some of his eating habits and he had adapted some of hers), I still fit into all my clothes.

Um, but tomorrow we're going to my parents' place to eat sufganiyot (think doughnuts, only without the holes inside, and softer, and with very thin sugar powder on top, and with yummy fillings inside), which are one of Hanukkah's traditional foods, so that may change.

Which brings me to the very reason I poked my head in here in the first place - happy Hanukkah, all of those who celebrate it! And lots of wavings and I-miss-you-guys to all y'all!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Sorry, it's true. Oops... Happy Hanukkah!

Just in case my former post wasn't clear: I'm deeply amused. My (Jewish, duh) mom would be so proud of you guys!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Well as long as you're amused. Happy Hanukkah!

It's funny looking at that picture of you and Emmett and the great dane now. He's 5'3" now - he's not so tiny anymore either.

Did I mention already that I love you guys and miss posting with you?

Way taller than me, already! Wow. Um, not that it's so complicated to be taller than me, but still.

Oh, and I can't wait to meet Matilda.

I had latkes last night! However, I think my plate was officially not Hannukahriffic: also contained sausage and shrimp and brie.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

javachik, you're welcome to come over here for Xmas day, if you like. And maybe come over for cookie-frosting sometime this week, if you've a mind?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Millenium Falcon Bed

Kayla Kromer was featured on Neatorama about a year ago for her Hamburger Bed. Now she strikes back with this must have bed for any Star Wars fan. Featuring working headlights, starfield projection, and hidden compartments, its cockpit can also hold action figures (although the two she picked are, indeed, sacrilege). I like the radar dish pillow.

Yay!

Everybody deserves as much Hanukkah as possible, even with other stuff on their plates.

And with that, I have to log off for the night.

But! Tomorrow morning is the one effect of Hanukkah on my work schedule, and my classes are off, so I'll hopefully be able to log on again and declare my vacation in doing-nothing-work-worthy on those hours, only fun postly things.
