I had latkes last night!
Yay!
Everybody deserves as much Hanukkah as possible, even with other stuff on their plates.
And with that, I have to log off for the night.
But! Tomorrow morning is the one effect of Hanukkah on my work schedule, and my classes are off, so I'll hopefully be able to log on again and declare my vacation in doing-nothing-work-worthy on those hours, only fun postly things.
Mmmmmmm, sufganiyot sounds yummy. The closest I'm likely to come to that are Dunkin Donuts donut holes, which a friend brought over Friday night as an NC-style nod to Hanukkah's tradition. And they were pretty good, so I'm certainly not complaining. Still, the word "sufganiyot" sounds more interesting.(Sufganiyot is not as easy to find here as donut holes.) Happy Hanukkah to all who celebrate it!
Thanks, Juliana. The days around the holidays themselves are already jam-packed (Sacramento Christmas eve, Charlie comes over Christmas morning, then we drive out to his sister's in Tracy). I have all of the week of Christmas off, though, so could be up for cookie-making.
Our neighborhood Chabad is having a Hanukkah celebration tonight and I thought about taking Noah to see the lighting of the menorah. But it also seems like a lot of work to get him ready given how tired I am. He's on hour 3 of a nap. I should go wake him but the kitchen mixer running didn't even get a peep.
After going to B&N, I think I have overbought for one person and underbought for others. Either I'll figure out how to shuffle stuff around so that it makes sense, or I'll keep -- I mean, return -- a couple of things...
Also, I fricking love the internet. I just did vocal warmups with some guy on YouTube.
Holy crap -- the owner of Oriental Trading Company lost $127 MILLION in Vegas. [link] And that was 5.6% of Harrah's Vegas revenue.
My god. I bet he won't get anywhere with the "kept me drugged up" allegations either.
It is unbelievable that I have three people in my entire extended family and we're still having so much Christmas drama.
how did I not know that toffee is just butter and sugar?
