I am up and have already been the mean mommy. of course I opted for sleep instead of an early trip to the PO and getting laundry in. Now it is too late b/c the guy is here to fix my dresser. Double of course, as soon as the guy got here mac decided we should leave right then for karate, so is again mad at me. At least he is dressed and actually ready.
Maybe I can get the tree lights finished while we are waiting.
I am up and have already fed the girl, had first breakfast, played with the girl until DH rolled out of bed, whereupon I took the dog to the park for 1.5 hrs, and now I am having second breakfast.
Then we need to go to the hardware store and Target, and work on getting lights up.
Am up and despite my best intentions to do my Xmas shopping errands early, am still in my PJs.
I'm up. So far I've given Amyth a lift to work (poor thing has a Saturday morning thing today), and now I'm killing time until my lash dyeing and hair cutting appointment. I've been growing some poorly conceived layers out of my bob, and now the back of it is just long enough to drive me crazy. It'll be good to get that chopped.
The rest of the weekend involves cleaning and holiday baking/cooking.
msbelle, you are not alone in having angry child this Saturday morning. Emeline is not going on her Daisy Scout field trip unless her room is clean. This was a process started last night. She opted to sit in her room and play all night instead of clean. This morning looks like it's going to be the same. She's going to be very upset come 1:40 when we go to leave for the field trip.
I have just been made a victim of my own excellence; I made a Minnie Mouse pancake for Matilda's breakfast, opting instead of the usual tired big circle with two smaller circles for the more complicated and nuanced 3/4 silhouette, and it turned out really quite beautifully. So beautifully, in fact, that Matilda started snizzling and pointing the Lightning Bolt Finger of Rage at me when I attempted to cut it up, and 45 minutes later she has grudgingly consented to eat part of the nose, with much complaining about how I'm spoiling Minnie's face.
Sigh.
The rest of the day's agenda will mostly consist of Not Being Home, so Hec can be quietly sick in peaceful isolation. Quick run to the office (it's awesome how excited Matilda gets about going to Mommy's work) and the post office, then downtown to look at the giant tree in Union Square and all the shop windows. Pizza at Blondie's, maybe let her talk me into getting her a small soda or a child's hot cocoa, a thrilling ride home on the train, and it's a full day.

In that vein, check out The Pancake Project.
The Dr. Horrible pancake is a work of freakin' art!
Oh aimee, good luck with that.
We have survived karate and the disappoint of a friend cancelling lunch.
Joe went to work at 5:30 so the kids and I got up, had breakfast, and were making cookies by 7. The cookies are now done and divided into little bags for their teachers. Joe got home and took Frisco for a walk. Ellie and I are watching some movie and eating popcorn.
