Shit's all sorts of different now.

msbelle, you are not alone in having angry child this Saturday morning. Emeline is not going on her Daisy Scout field trip unless her room is clean. This was a process started last night. She opted to sit in her room and play all night instead of clean. This morning looks like it's going to be the same. She's going to be very upset come 1:40 when we go to leave for the field trip.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

I have just been made a victim of my own excellence; I made a Minnie Mouse pancake for Matilda's breakfast, opting instead of the usual tired big circle with two smaller circles for the more complicated and nuanced 3/4 silhouette, and it turned out really quite beautifully. So beautifully, in fact, that Matilda started snizzling and pointing the Lightning Bolt Finger of Rage at me when I attempted to cut it up, and 45 minutes later she has grudgingly consented to eat part of the nose, with much complaining about how I'm spoiling Minnie's face.

Sigh.

The rest of the day's agenda will mostly consist of Not Being Home, so Hec can be quietly sick in peaceful isolation. Quick run to the office (it's awesome how excited Matilda gets about going to Mommy's work) and the post office, then downtown to look at the giant tree in Union Square and all the shop windows. Pizza at Blondie's, maybe let her talk me into getting her a small soda or a child's hot cocoa, a thrilling ride home on the train, and it's a full day.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

In that vein, check out The Pancake Project.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Oh aimee, good luck with that.

We have survived karate and the disappoint of a friend cancelling lunch.

Trust my rage

Joe went to work at 5:30 so the kids and I got up, had breakfast, and were making cookies by 7. The cookies are now done and divided into little bags for their teachers. Joe got home and took Frisco for a walk. Ellie and I are watching some movie and eating popcorn.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Sometimes, circumstances reverse themselves very tidily. Usually at the ER you don't see an attending unless the resident escalates. This attending happened upon me, got me moved to a room where the lights could be dimmed, wrote upp my meds before the resident could get to it, fetched a portable ultrasound to help find my veins, reviewed the meds the nurse had pulled and caught that I was being given 1/3 of the dilaudid ordered, and was just generally looking out for me because she remembered me from before, and was just plain nice. She got me verklempt.

I've never had my arm ulltrasounded before.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Oooh! That reminds me I picked up Batter Blaster at Whole Foods yesterday. Pancakes for lunch?

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Go, nice attending!
