Huh. Just checked, and the overnight-guaranteed place is $224 plus the usual gov't fee of $135. That's on top of:
- share of gas to and from Montreal
- share of hotel room/3
- Worldcon membership
- price of Fedexing the passport to me in Montreal so I can get back in. (Canada doesn't require valid passport to get INTO.)
- plus, you know, food & incidentals for five days, as fasting is not an option.
So I just managed to set off my alarm. Luckily, I do apparently remember the password after 3 weeks. Lord. That was interesting.
So, you know, looking in the $1K+ range before the shouting is over. And I'm unemployed, and going to stay that way for a while.
Plus, I could still go to Vividcon next weekend for a whole lot less. Though, not much more less, because the airfare would be $300.
There's always next year? I'm sorry, that sucks.
I'm glad you remembered the password.
We had a storm last night. It actually snapped the neighbor's flag pole, sending the confederate flag to the ground. We shall see if the south rises again.
WOW, I maxed out my credit card this month, not really paying attention to how much I have been spending. Must remedy immediately.
well, there's the rub, last month I went on 3 shopping trips, now the bug spending, and I had made 2 childcare payments without shifting any money over from the childcare savings account, now it all makes sense. madly moving money around and making payments.

Clearly an act of one of the cooler gods.
After more checking around, it turns out that as of June 1st, Canadialand will not let you in without a valid passport, so going there and renewing my passport by FedEx through an expedited service is not on. Which would be wildly expensive in and of itself.
Watching last night's Daily Show.
Dear Steve Doocy,
SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP OH, MY GOD, SHUUUUUT UUUUP.
