There's always next year? I'm sorry, that sucks.

I'm glad you remembered the password.

We had a storm last night. It actually snapped the neighbor's flag pole, sending the confederate flag to the ground. We shall see if the south rises again.

WOW, I maxed out my credit card this month, not really paying attention to how much I have been spending. Must remedy immediately.

well, there's the rub, last month I went on 3 shopping trips, now the bug spending, and I had made 2 childcare payments without shifting any money over from the childcare savings account, now it all makes sense. madly moving money around and making payments.

Clearly an act of one of the cooler gods.

After more checking around, it turns out that as of June 1st, Canadialand will not let you in without a valid passport, so going there and renewing my passport by FedEx through an expedited service is not on. Which would be wildly expensive in and of itself.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Woohoo! I just cleaned all the old invoices off my desk and alphabetized those that are still current! Now to filed them into the binders after punching holes in them, and those will be off my desk. Yay!!

Next goal (after I get caught up on Oregon regulations for the month) is to clean the stack off my top shelves and finally put my pictures and personal stuff out and get rid of the box they've been in for a year or so. Hopefully by the end of the week...

Dear Steve Doocy,

SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP OH, MY GOD, SHUUUUUT UUUUP.

No kidding. I so badly wanted to point out that the government already runs loads of health care in this country with less overhead that private insurers.

Plus, the problem with Cash for Clunkers is that it was too successful. Actually, I don't want to keep extending that program very long, but that's aside from the point.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Does anybody know what happens if you try to cross back to the US with an expired passport?

Usually, they won’t let you leave with an expired passport. In fact, a lot of places say that your passport must be valid for 30 days after your return date.

We'll vouch for your tendency to not know where you are going, Theo. Clearly inadvertent border crossing.

That didn’t work so well for the journalists in Northern Korea. Of course, in Canada, you’re less likely to get 12 years of hard labor rather than a heartfelt apology for not marking the border quite clearly enough.

There are expedited passport places online -- I've even heard some promise a 24-hour turnaround. Did you check those out?

I once got a passport in 4 hours. I came in at 8, came back to pick it up at lunchtime. But, I live in DC, so that may not be possible elsewhere.
