So Tom, would you prefer if I dress in an outfit featuring pom poms and cheer you on, or shall I smite someone on your behalf? Here to serve.
Coffee since I have been in Otter Lake has been brewed from a bag of Dunkin' Donuts French Vanilla. Not bad, but I am really looking forward to getting home to the nice variety of coffee options we have at the office. And Cuban, that would be a nice treat.
I'm heading south next Monday, early. It will take me 2 days so I want to get to my half way point early enough to enjoy a swim and nice dinner before getting up early to drive all day Tuesday. Wednesday morning is Freshman orientation at my son's HS. Got a Freshman and a Senior this year.
My coffee is too hot.
Oh well - at least the Entropy Fairy will take care of that....
I just realized yesterday that I only have a week of freedom left. Which is particularly annoying as my mother is planning to come help me move in once she returns to the country, but at that point it may well be too late. Well, I couldn't really make her move furniture anyway. She 's not frail or anything, but she's a good deal more brain-oriented than bicep-oriented.
Hey, I just saw a fawn run across my front yard! I will miss the wildlife here. The cat and I watched rabbits in the front yard for quite a while yesterday.
Emily, I'm SO not up on things -- where are you moving?!
The good news: I just finally found my passport for the trip to Canada tomorrow.
The bad news: it expired 5 years ago.
Does anybody know what happens if you try to cross back to the US with an expired passport? Do you have to wait until the gov't renews it by mail (to Canadialand where one is presumably stranded) or can you go to a consulate in person, expired passport in hand. I'd actually not mind visiting Quebec for a few extra days if it meant I got to go to the Worldcon.
My child, again with the lying to me and trying to sneak his GD DS to school. THEN he threw
my
Mets cap into a flowerbed in front of a building as he walked behind me to school. Was it there when I went back after dropping him off? NO. I am in no hurry to replace it, but he'll be paying for it when I do. Tuesdays must be "act like a brat" day, we seem to do some version of this dance every Tuesday.
Oh no! Muni F-Line Historic Streetcars Make SUV Sandwich on Market Street in San Francisco
More info:
(08-03) 21:29 PDT -- Six people were injured Monday when one of San Francisco's historic F-line streetcars rear-ended a vehicle and crushed it against the back of another streetcar that was stopped in traffic on Market Street.
...
The latest crash appears to have been caused by a distracted driver, according to witnesses.
The streetcars and the vehicle involved in Monday's accident were all traveling west, or outbound, on Market Street near Noe Street, Muni spokesman Judson True said.
Witnesses said the driver of a historic orange streetcar from Milan was talking to a passenger when he suddenly slammed on the brakes. The streetcar hit a silver Nissan Pathfinder, sending several people tumbling to the floor of the car. The Pathfinder was pushed against a maroon-colored streetcar, crushing the front and back of the car, but leaving the middle intact. Two people were seen exiting the vehicle.

Emily, I'm SO not up on things -- where are you moving?!
No reason you should be -- I just really decided on Friday (that is, I intended to move out, but I could just stay here as long as I wanted, but Friday I got the place I'd been looking at, so I guess I'll move there!). I'm just moving into town, into my own little two-bedroom bungalow where my landlords live across the backyard.
Got a Freshman and a Senior this year.
Woah.
I was up way too late last night, I guess from jetlag. But I had woken up at 8 or something that morning! Oh well. It should be a quiet day here at the office.
I'm seriously wondering how hard it would be to walk over the Quebec/NH border with a GPS and determination.
Not hard at all, I'm sure. I mean "not hard," assuming you enjoy hiking and whatnot.
