Apparently, on a clear day the view from the top is second only to Kilimanjaro in visible land area and you can see Half Dome. I'll have to go back after a storm.
I worked there as a Park Aide for a while and the days when I was assigned to the gift shop up at the summit were pretty dang sweet for catching views in between the waves of visitors. I never saw Half Dome, but occasionally could make out the Sierras. I always like being able to see SF landmarks because they are so recognizable and seem so far away from the base of the mountain.
The short trail around the summit is quite flat, takes you through at least four different ecosystems and gives you great views for little effort, if you find yourself not wanting so much of a challenge.
BTW, you can see my house from up there. At least, you can see vaguely where my house is if you know what you're looking for. Just about straight north, there's a white dome next to the water, that's our City Hall.
When I started here I used to go out everyday, at least to eat what I brought from home. Being right near the water, it's quite lovely. That leisure ended long ago, but at least I eat in the kitchen every day, not at my desk.
We have a whole food court, cafeteria, plus underground tunnels that go to many other eateries in other downtown buildings, I'd just rather be surfing than sitting in the court, cafeteria or whatever by myself.
When I worked in NY we all ate at our desks unless we went out somewhere instead of just picking up food. There was no break room, so. But I never answered the phone or looked at email while I was eating, although I did read manuscripts, so I guess that evens out.
We have a table in the back to eat at. I usually bring lunch. One library is too far from anything, the other one is next door to a grocery store. If I had wireless at my branches I would be here, facebook or hulu at lunch sometimes. Just because I really shouldn't use work computers for those things. I can no way pretend those are library business.
I do some prep work for story time at home, and book club work. I do check email , but only whe I feel like it and not to do work , but to be prepared for the day.

So it's basically unpaid leave. Fuckeroo.

We could definitely see the Sierras, just not clear enough to distinguish Yosemite's peaks.

Yeah, we already decided that next time we would drive to the top (if it was clear), and then maybe check out Rock City.

Hah! I sent those three "intellegence questions" to my dad, a PhD in Water Reclaimation.
He got all three wrong, mainly because he didn't answer the question given.
