Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I'm not sure if I'm reassured by Seska's post or more worried. I always think of that kind of religious fear-mongering as very American.

My kids have been asking about Halloween and what the holiday celebrates. (Now that I think of it, I've been fielding a lot of spiritual questions lately.) My answer has been to link it to the Day of the Dead, and that the holiday is a chance to celebrate and mock death instead of just being afraid of it.

I have done so much work, I'm done. Managed to wrangle a 7000 problem down to 3000 then to 2000 then FINALLY got everyone to figure out what was really going on and now it is ....7. 7!! All this gnashing of teeth and long ass meetings and debate and philosophical questions and ....7.

I'm not sure whether to be proud or embarrassed.

Yay! I actually couldn't get it together today, but amyth represented for our office in a stunning black and orange ensemble.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It took me way too long not to parse Pope JP as Jared Padalecki. Perhaps I need to spend less time updating my sites.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

I always think of that kind of religious fear-mongering as very American.

It's everywhere.

On the other hand, the US Episcopalian Church is currently my institutional hero for leading the way on LGBT blessings, women bishops and all that good stuff (while the archbishops in my Anglican denominational home have silly panics about such things). There is also moderate religion everywhere.

Two of my friends just got gay-married while one is in seminary to become a priest! And they even live in student family housing.

I haven't been in months, and I have Jesus issues, but I lurve my episcopal church.

“Not dead yet!”

Well, derr! What with the Papistry and all, totally satanic.

Well, and if you go all Dia de los Muertos, then it's Papist and satanic and all furrin' and shit.

That's so cool! Whereas here, I have LGBT friends seriously reconsidering their vocations to the Anglican church, whose new 'official' stance just became a Don't Ask, Don't Tell, But We Definitely Don't Approve kind of thing. Irritating.

Still, my little parish church is run by a lovely gay priest who's going to conduct the blessing at our Big Gay Wedding. The Anglican church: a big mess of contradictions, but I manage to find places to fit in there.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Witches praise mother earth by bringing her fruits, nuts and herbs.

sounds like they have the nuts covered ....
