They should film that story and show it every Christmas.

you hug her for me, sara. ignore that part where I've never met her.

Yeah, I dunno what was going on there. I really just don't get it. It's so petty. My SIL can carry a grudge like WHOA, but they did apparently say some hurtful things to her for reasons I don't fully understand back when T was born. I know she had to swallow a lot of bile to try again, but sorry it slapped her in the face. At least she made an effort to be a grown up.

They have had no contact with the grandsons in 2 years. Never even met T. Don't even acknowledge them. This after D spent weeks at a time with them before this. The boys don't know about the drama. I.don't.get.it.

eta: she heard her brother had an accident thirdhand (she's in contact with him) and called to find out if he was ok, and generally extend a hand and a holiday invite, which was rebuffed.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Or else your packing would get really interesting!

Tee hee.

Jesse, good luck packing. Once I know I'm healthy (or not, or whatever....just a fricking answer would be nice, please), we'll have to have drinks in Boston.

Yes, please!

sounds to me like they were trying to hurt her. I don't know any grandmother who wouldn't remember their grandchildren.

Seriously.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Don't even acknowledge them.

Oh, that's cold. Does she want my mother? She'd kill for grandchildren and would appreciate them properly. I'd totally share.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I will say, I have handmade gifts from my grandmothers who love me, with my name (spelled) wrong. They had the basic idea, though!

sarameg - Oct 26, 2009 4:48:54 pm PDT #15421 of 30001

The boys are her only grandkids. But her mom is trying to play favorites between her kids, but her kids are still staying friendly, just ruining SIL's relationship with them. I almost think her mother resented her getting her own life (they were really close before) and doing well, so it punishing her for it. It's fucked up.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Generally, people who get it as kids are OK. It's guys who get it as adults (or at least teenagers) who are at risk of becoming sterile, and that's actually not as common as it was once thought.
