I think the cooling argument was similar to this article.

At least that's about what it sounded like to me, though the Al Gore connection was an addition.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Shoulder rubs don't count as policy?

That was Dubya.

I have to admit that it softened me a wee, tiny bit toward GHWB to find out that (a) he was actually named for the poet Herbert Walker, and (b) he's at least vaguely familiar with Walker's work. Not quite enough for me to forgive him all his horrid offspring, but just a wee, tiny bit.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

I have some seriously Obama-hating leftist friends. They are often just as irrational and tinhatty about it as the right wing ones.

Oh yeah. But then, I find it funny that many of my Republican family/friends think he's so lefty. IMO, he's pretty centrist, really. He's certainly not as lefty as I am.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

And the thing with the Obama-hating lefties I know is that I honestly don't think that any Democrat -- even their sainted Kucinich (honestly, I think if he got in office, they'd be pissed about some damn thing and start badmouthing him, like, he didn't order public executions for investment bankers, and I'm not even kidding) -- would make them happy.

I KNOW, RIGHT?

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

We have a big kinky Halloween party tonight, and The Boy is geeking out over stuff he brought home from work for his costume (which I think is going to be Dr. Horrible, or at least Dr. Horrible-inspired): shoulder-length black welding gloves and crazy-ass goggles. He's cracking me up.

He might just have a freeze ray in the attic.

Judge Crater and Amelia Earhart, too?

I find the far right frustrating because they have such a loud voice that debate gets replaced with spectacle. I don't like taxes and like to see smaller deficits too, but protests with Obama joker faces and Hitler mustaches doesn't really contribute to discourse. I'd like to see ideas about how to get a handle on health care costs and why Obama is dead wrong in his approach. If you want to lower the deficit and consequently taxes, then it's all about health care costs. I don't have a good feeling about the current proposals doing a lot about it, so more ideas would be welcome.

I'm sure there were lefties during the GWB years with similar posters and stuff, but it seems like the righties have a much bigger media platform.
