I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

I have some seriously Obama-hating leftist friends. They are often just as irrational and tinhatty about it as the right wing ones.

Oh yeah. But then, I find it funny that many of my Republican family/friends think he's so lefty. IMO, he's pretty centrist, really. He's certainly not as lefty as I am.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

And the thing with the Obama-hating lefties I know is that I honestly don't think that any Democrat -- even their sainted Kucinich (honestly, I think if he got in office, they'd be pissed about some damn thing and start badmouthing him, like, he didn't order public executions for investment bankers, and I'm not even kidding) -- would make them happy.

I KNOW, RIGHT?

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

We have a big kinky Halloween party tonight, and The Boy is geeking out over stuff he brought home from work for his costume (which I think is going to be Dr. Horrible, or at least Dr. Horrible-inspired): shoulder-length black welding gloves and crazy-ass goggles. He's cracking me up.

He might just have a freeze ray in the attic.

How else are you going to keep it fresh?

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Judge Crater and Amelia Earhart, too?

Coding and Sleeping

I find the far right frustrating because they have such a loud voice that debate gets replaced with spectacle. I don't like taxes and like to see smaller deficits too, but protests with Obama joker faces and Hitler mustaches doesn't really contribute to discourse. I'd like to see ideas about how to get a handle on health care costs and why Obama is dead wrong in his approach. If you want to lower the deficit and consequently taxes, then it's all about health care costs. I don't have a good feeling about the current proposals doing a lot about it, so more ideas would be welcome.

I'm sure there were lefties during the GWB years with similar posters and stuff, but it seems like the righties have a much bigger media platform.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I was listening to the soundtrack to "Judgment Night", and wondered if anyone in the early 90s ever thought we would be nostalgic for gangsta rap some day.

I have that album. Never saw the movie, but definitely enjoy the soundtrack.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Judgement night has the beauty of gangsta rap mixed with metal though. It has double the awesome!

Yup. And, whatever. If they want to, then they're going to. Although I always want to ask them, "Do you like ANYTHING??? AT ALL???" But it's not worth engaging them.

I have a theory I've been playing with. I think the reason some people hate everything is because it's easier and makes them feel like they won't be fooled by crooked politicians. They're too smart to hope for something they've decided will never happen so they don't have to look like foolish dreamers or something. I'm starting to thing cynicism is a cheap and easy way to make yourself feel better than everyone else.
