I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

What possible conspiracy could there be?

Let's see. If the conservative had wanted the shots and been unable to procure them, the conspiracy would have been that the Liberal Elite were secretly using up all the flu vaccine, leaving God's People to die.

If the conservative was one of the anti-vaccination nuts the conspiracy would be that the Liberal Elite were attempting to poison God's People with the flu vaccine (and avoiding jabs themselves).

Basically, Obama wants him dead, and the 82nd Airborn isn't enough to get the job done.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Weirdly, the person wanted and received the vaccine! So she can't think it is deadly. I give up.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Basically, there's a point when the Obama-hating stops actually being about (or, hell, making the excuse that it's about) anything at all and just turns into randomly pointing fingers at nothing.

It's kind of like when my MIL makes the really exaggerated sneery faces and say, "well what do you expect from the government!" and I have to point out again that she's a government employee.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

You know, it makes more sense for you to say that (like, if you're mad at your MIL or something).

In theory the US is a democracy. (The theory breaking down in the face of lobbyists, high cost of campaigning, etc.) So, for US speakers, at least, that's the same as saying, "Well, what do you expect from us?"

Coding and Sleeping

Oh, right. I'm planning to purchase a ridiculously expensive computer this weekend.

That sounds like fun, something new and shiny.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Yeah, on all sides of the political fence, for that matter. Once people've made up their mind, that's all they see.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Yeah, on all sides of the political fence, for that matter. Once people've made up their mind, that's all they see.

Eh, I don't really think there's an equivalence here.

I have some seriously Obama-hating leftist friends. They are often just as irrational and tinhatty about it as the right wing ones.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

I slso have some friends who take any strong criticism of Obama as "Obama Hating". He is expanding the war in Afganhistan, planning to shrink but not end the war in Iraq, and seems to be getting us into a war in Afghanistan. I don't hate Obama - in fact this is pretty much what he promised. But I consider this a non-trivial problem, and it is a matter of moving in the wrong direction not just moving too slowly. And I really get pissed at being accused of Obama hating when I point this out. And I know that is not what you are doing. Just pointing out there is an oversensifity on the part of some people to react harshly against any critique of the current admin.
