Kathy, you have a free place to stay anytime you want to come to NYC if you give me one day of paint stripping.
Natter 64: Yes, we still need you

I've never seen a sea pig before:
With its pallid pink flesh, the scotoplane – known as a sea pig – resembles some kind of tumorous growth that was just excised from somebody’s abdomen. But, this strange creature is actually a type of sea cucumber. Sea pigs look and act sort of like slugs, feeding on organic materials that settle on the ocean floor.
Not as cute as a sea kitten.
I have Columbus Day off! Yes, the Navajo boarding school is celebrating Columbus Day. Go ahead, gawp at that for a bit. I'll wait.
Ok, it's not their decision. They lost a bunch of their funding through Major!Scandal! and now their high schoolers are still boarding, but they're attending the local public high school, which takes the day off.
But you gotta love the irony.
I've not really got anything to say, I just got caught up after a technology-free weekend and needed to celebrate. mr. flea (federal employee) has today off, and Casper is off school, so I took vacation and we had a 3-day weekend camping.
I would happily trade paint stripping for packing with msbelle.
I need to find someone who wants to trade painting walls and trim for refinishing furniture. More immediately, I need to find someone who fixes roofs, since it's raining in my bathroom. I am jury-rigging a fix in the attic, since it's going to be a while before there's an available roofer in this area.
Oh, we celebrated Columbus Day by sleeping in a place where the nearest town is Cherokee NC. Which seems to be doing very well - lots of new civic buildings, medical clinic, etc. Presumably from their casino, which, go for it.
Ginger, I can paint walls and trim. But I can also refinish furniture. Oops.
What I need is for someone local to help me find a nice simply styled cherry dresser in need of refinishing, then we'd be golden.
We need some sort of Buffista travel/work trade programme.
I have Columbus Day off, but I work for the federal government. So, no surprise there.
On Saturday night, I staggered over to downtown Minneapolis for the 5th annual Zombie Pub Crawl, a celebration of creative horror makeup and playful kitsch. I'd gone to the Crawl once before, in 2007. On that outing, it was enough to just show up in (blood covered) street clothes and zombie makeup. This year, however, featured some fabulous new directions in themed zombies. Thanks to the excellent work of my friend and photographer Leah Shaffer, I'm able to bring you a sampling of the Twin Cities' finest in zombie couture...

This may well have been the creepiest costume of the evening.
