Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Plei, while I was in Portland I stayed with a couple with a four year old, took them out for breakfast one day. The 4 year old said: "they have blueberry bagels, cinnamon raisin bagels and chocolate bagels. Why don't they have gummi bear bagels?".

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Is it bad to try and sell a Bible on half.com?

You're ministering to the poor/thrifty folks who have had an unspoken need for The Word but haven't had the impetus to get it.

My ability to say smarmy stuff in halfway convincing ways disturbs me. It's why I didn't go into advertising.

Show of hands - how many people's immediate thought upon reading this was "Eat a muffin, Whitey!"?

raises hand

Which is why it was posted, I'm sure.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

No. But what kind of Bible? 'Cause mine just got serious water damage because I left it on my office desk with the windows open. And it rained. Oops. But I live in the desert! It wasn't an unreasonable expectation!

Anyway, I've been idly Bible shopping since then, but I hate Christian book stores with the passion of a moderately fiery dozen or so suns.

In completely unrelated news, my shipment from Lehman's just came in and I am now laundering with Nellie's Laundry Soda and my whole house stinks with the live bacteria I just flushed down the toilet to our septic tank. Don't you all envy my rural lifestyle?

OTOH, lots of sprouts in our winter garden sunroom, which is bright and already super sunny. Plus, very comfortable with our newly built window seat in there.
