I have to write something on him and don't want to lead with the equivalent of: "Though he has played antisemitic characters he is in fact an observant Jew. Shocking!"
At the beginning of Borat, the conversations that he has with his wife in Khazakh are actually in Hebrew.
Doe it help that I know none of this?
or am I just tragically unhip?
I did not know these things, Hecubus.
I knew none of it, but I don't like him and haven't ever been able to make it more than 10 min. into anything he's in except Madagascar. bon is gonna disown me now.
wicked hard wind outside.
I have a stupid question.
If an amount of euros is written as 750.000,00 (with that exact punctiona and number of zeros, would that be 750,000.00 as we format/punctuate monetary amounts in the U.S?
I'm not trying to impress. I'm just trying to figure out what is close to common knowledge.
Ah, gotcha. My apologies for the aspersions, in that case. OTOH, I have no idea how much my common is completely off to the left of anyone else's common.
Doe it help that I know none of this?
Well, I didn't know most of it until I started researching it, so I was just curious about what was broadly known. And while I didn't know he was a model, I wasn't surprised since the first time I saw him out of character I thought, "He's rather a handsome dude."
For the record, I didn't see Borat when it came out, or his HBO show with Ali G.
My first exposure to him was in the Ali G. movie which I nabbed off cable a while back and I thought that was really funny, sharp, daring and even kind of sweet.
Since then I've seen Borat and Bruno and his turns in Sweeney Todd and Talladega Nights but I missed most of the media blitz when Borat first came out, or when HBO was pushing his show.
