Schlepping the casserole dish is particularly pathetic since she'd just been in his apartment. Leave it in the refrigerator with a note! Also, what does she do that she can run those kinds of errands?
This discussion made me realize that Mellie was probably around for both messages. Maybe she's Caroline's sister and is staking out the only law enforcement person working on the Dollhouse and nudging him along.
