I love Love L O V E that Coulson did not hide the "episodes".
Instead of "They'll think I'm broken and try to replace me, must prevaricate!" it's "I am endangering operations by having unexplained compulsive behavior, must fix!" It's very Coulson.

OK, I'm willing to believe that a knife (or a stylus) is part of the compulsion, which does make it nicely alien-ish.
