Jossverse 1: Emotional Resonance & Rocket Launchers
TV, movies, web media--this thread is the home for any Joss projects that don't already have their own threads, such as Dr. Horrible.
The show is making it SO obvious that Coulson's a robot, that I'm starting to think that it might be a fake-out.
I think it has to be, given the medical tests he got a few episodes back. Surely Simmons would have noticed if he weren't human.
I admit my primary response to this episode was, "You can't do that with that plane!" I suspect I'm not completely on board yet...

Oh, they are absolutely fucking with us. I wonder what they have cooked up instead.
I did like that Coulson is becoming more skeptical of SHIELD's benevolence. He's really not on board with expedience being justification for failing to protect your people.
Also, if Ward knew there was no extraction team, why not get clear before setting off the beacon that would trigger the SHIELD attack?
I think he didn't realize that till that bit with his flashlight, I think he was signaling the team that was supposed to be there.
I so hope it's a fakeout, re: "Is Coulson real or is he Memorex?"
edit: "I thought we weren't discussing it." "I'm not discussing anything."
That last scene was good, Phil's creeping suspicion and unease.
And I get all giddy when he's snapping at Skye.

Right, but that was before they disabled the Overkill device. He could have had Fitz disable the device, snuck away, and THEN activated the beacon to call in SHIELD.
Please let there be Tiki gods involved in Coulson's coming back.
A bland Coulson face blinking at a Tiki god would be priceless.
edit: It couldn't be worse than a Burger Loa
I really liked last night's episode. I think it's been my favorite so far. I am so much happier now that the show is not all Sky and Agent Square Jaw all the time.
I am loving the little things like May doing Tai Chi while Coulson worked out his issues and not even breaking stride until the little annoyed face she threw him at the end. I want to know more about those two.
The show seems to not be breaking much new ground, but the ground it's treading on is pretty darn entertaining, so I'm OK with that.
I was not mistaken in seeing a bunch of UST between Simmons and Fitz at the end, right? Like, "I really want to hug him, but I mustn't" and "I should hug her hard, but I won't."
Giving those two personalities and abilities was a major plus. I like seeing the team developing their own interactions.
