Alas, the AD scenes sounded like Exposition 101 to me, along with what came off as an 'unnatural' voice to me -- though that's my ears aren't expecting out of Denisof's lips.

Ordinarily, I think Eliza D. is like the female, real life Vincent Chase.(this is not a burn...you should know I love Vincent Chase by now. And she could totally open a hero movie, too.) She gets by a lot because she's hot and has a lot of natural charm. But there are only a few times I've really seen her act. She was really very good last night though.

I think Eliza has the most important acting skill - the ability to tap directly into powerful emotions.
I don't think she has the quality that (to choose two handy examples) Olivia Williams or Amy Acker has, which is the ability to indicate a lot of thought behind her eyes, layered and thoughtful and ironic and self-aware.
So she's very compelling when she's in-her-body or emotional, but not very convincing when she's a multilingual hostage negotiator.
Also, how about that Echo/Whiskey slash flashback! Dang, they're beautiful and in such different ways.

I thought Eliza was good in screaming-mother mode, but her regular-mother mode was too reminiscent of all her other roles. I was kind of meh on the episode and that storyline, although I'm intrigued by the fact that the wipe didn't work.
And Madeline is interesting.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.
I was miffed by the lack of Boyd and Victor. I miss Boyd as Echo's handler (I think I'm repeating myself from last week). I don't think the character's promotion was a good deal for the actor, and I didn't see anything in his work that deserved it.
