Actually, just did a rewatch and Claire was the one who said "he wants a drink instead" and Adele said "I'm not surprised". Interesting.
Jossverse 1: Emotional Resonance & Rocket Launchers
TV, movies, web media--this thread is the home for any Joss projects that don't already have their own threads, such as Dr. Horrible.
Is there a possibility Adelle doesn't know Claire is a Doll? Do we know she was there at the inception of this Dollhouse? Because from the records, it looks like we finally have confirmation on the timeline: this Dollhouse, at the least, has only been running for ten years.
Okay, so, the Dollhouse ratings suck the suck. Fan write ins ain't gonna cut it. Does anybody have any ideas? The only thing I can think of doing is charting the DVD into the Amazon top ten to try to get the studio to slash the licensing fee.
Personally, I have enough troubles with the series that I'd rather see all the talented people (which is just about everyone connected with the series) go on to do something I like.
P-C,
no. and if Claire is a doll, she wouldn't know that Whiskey might refer to her. However, I wonder what Adele has told her about where the "real" Whiskey is.
Adele has no problems programming the dolls for any number of tasks she might need (Caroline volunteered for such when they were looking for the mole).
It makes me wonder who isn't a doll. I think the only people who aren't who currently work for the Dollhouse are Adele and Topher. I think everyone else is a doll.
I've finally watched the first six episodes of the show, and I don't think I have anything to say at this point - I feel like I've read SO many different meta views on what's happening that it's all a bit head-go-boom.
Um.
thinks
I do think Eliza is better than I expected - but that's rather a half-hearted kind of praise. Victor I'm loving, and Mz DeWitt (Olivia Williams keeps making me want to go and find Tori Higginson and say "This! This is what Elizabeth Weir was supposed to be like! With the authority-having! And the excellent delivery!"). I've liked Sierra pretty well so far, but I'd like to see her getting more things to do.
Um.
Tahmoh is ridiculously pretty. So is the decor in the Dollhouse.
Um. Nope - really, all my thinky thoughts are gone. I do like the way they're trying to look at identity through lots of different storylines, both the ones about the Dollhouse residents and the ones about people outside it. I liked the use of art, and cubism, in the Taffy episode. I like the little hints that the dolls are remembering things, and trying to keep their emerging identities secret.
I don't know whether I'd have been interested enough to tune in on a given evening (probably, because, hey, Whedon), but mainlining six episodes in quick succession was quite fun.
Oh - you guys are talking about the Doctor being an Active? I kind of assumed she was, from someone's line earlier about there having been an Active better than Echo, or something - I forget what, exactly, but Boyd said "You mean Alpha?" - but it was never confirmed that they did mean Alpha, and her face is all slashed up, like the Actives were...I dunno, it seemed reasonable.

I don't think so. What reason would there be to keep that a secret from her? Boyd may not know, though.

I think that we talked about that earlier, the idea that she wouldn't be useful as a doll because her scars, so they repurposed her as the doctor. But, then we were distracted by something shiny.
Why would she have been repurposed as a doctor before she got her scars though? If alpha had just been wiped for the first time and sent to her to be checked out, that would seem to indicate Claire was already the doc.

If they created her personality, they could have added that detail.
How aware would Alpha be of the whole wiping? He may recognize her as a Doll because, of course, he would, but it sounded like his examination by Claire really happened to him. The timeline is confusing me.
