I need a circa-1988 Antonio Banderas.

Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Mmmm, yeah. So pretty.
Is this for your trip? Have you read Shadow of the Wind? A colleague here also recommend The Time of the Doves.
Have you read Shadow of the Wind?
No, but it's on my list! Maybe I'll move it up. Not sure I'll have time, though, since it's pretty long and I think I'm going to read the Hunger Games books in August.
I liked Barcelona.
LOVE.
mwah ha ha. I have gazpacho in my fridge right now, but it's Al Pastor (white) not Andaluz (red). I can't believe I haven't seen Women on the Verge yet.

Well, that's settled then. A friend of mine keeps talking about Whit Stillman anyway, so it'll be good to know what he's going on about.
I always forget how we roll, though: you hate Lost in Translation like I do, but you ALSO hate Magnolia, right?
Hah! I am wearing a Lost in Translation t-shirt right now. AIFG! But I really really hate Magnolia. It is probably my most hatiest film.

No, I loved Lost in Translation (though I haven't watched it in a long time). Part of why I loved it is because it really resonated with my life circumstances at the time. So if I watched it now, I might not feel the same way.
but you ALSO hate Magnolia, right?
There are no sufficient words to describe the depth of my hatred for Magnolia.

x-post of Magnolia hate!
All About my Mother seems to be set (at least some of it) in Barcelona. It's another one I seem to have missed. How did I skip from Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down to Habla con Ella? I thought I liked Almodovar.
