I love FBDO. It's a lovely tribute to Chicago in particular, and throughthat, to the joys of city living. Ballgames, skyscrapers, parades, art museums, fancy restaurants--all of them to be enjoyed.
Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
The Chicago aspects of FBDO are the things that stuck with me afterwards. That and "Bueller? Bueller?"
Other good show-off-Chicago movies: Blues Brothers, The Fugitive, Blink, and Adventures in Babysitting. Any other suggestions?
Anyone seeing Battle for Terra? Owen's dying to see it but I am dubious.
I also really really loved The Princess and the Warrior.
Oh I did too. I was haunted by that film. Afterward, I just ruminated on it for a few hours.
It's on my DVR, waiting to be watched one day.
I really had no IDEA how smoking hot Zachary Quinto was until this movie. (Sure, Sylar's attractive in a villainous kind of way, but...WOAH. Spock. Hawt.)
Jessica, rent So NoTORIous. He's about 20 times hotter as Sasan than he is on Heroes. Also, most of the episodes are pretty funny (the Scientology one is hilarious!).
In general I agree with Frank about the unctuousness of Ferris Beuller himself, but I did really like Jennifer Grey and Alan Ruck in that movie. Plus, "Ed, Ferris Beuller's on line two!" is one of my favorite reaction shots of all time.
Blink
I knew someone who's in that.
other great Chicago movies:
Return to Me
What Women Want
Running Scared
I adore the FBDO, but it's not about Ferris! You're supposed to feel that way about Ferris, because Cameron feels that way about Ferris, and it's a movie about Cameron!
I <3 Cameron.
Definitely Running Scared!! How did I forget that one?
Between the car chase on the L tracks and the frackin' awesome finale in the State of Illinois building's atrium, it does a great job of showing off parts of the city you don't see elsewhere.
