Fred: So you don't worry that it's possible for someone to send out a biological or electronic trigger that effectively overrides your own sense of ideals and values and replaces them with an alternative coercive agenda that reduces you to a mindless meat puppet? Shopkeeper: Wow. People used to think that I was paranoid.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

and most of the best bits were in the trailer

I only watched a bit of the trailers, because the anticipation was killing me. The Zoe/JDM fight scene looks better in the movie, but it's still way improbable. And the Chris Evans recurring gag was beautiful, and couldn't be spoiled in preview.

I can't believe people were bitching that Chris Evans wouldn't be able to bulk up to play Captain America. Man's huge.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I liked Gladiator. Crowe didn't blow me away in it, but he was adequate. I have a soft spot for the historical figure of Marcus Aurelius. I enjoyed seeing how his influence reached on past his death, to the character played by Oliver Reed as well as Maximus.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

And the Chris Evans recurring gag was beautiful, and couldn't be spoiled in preview.

I loved all his T-shirts.

One awesome scene that wasn't in the trailer was the bit at the end with the motorcycle and the plane. And Clay just standing there as a GIANT PLANE ON FIRE bears down on him. Totally badass. That is the kind of ridiculous shit I want to see in these movies!

He's John Fucking Winchester, man. He climbed out of hell to save his boys. He can totally do that. Not to mention beat gravity in the dive to get the trigger. No problemo.

Clay was delicious.

It totally delivered on the ludicrous action front.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

t x-posted to Press

I have an extra pass to see the film Drones 10:30pm tonight at the Somerville Theater. It was directed by Adam Busch & Amber Benson and stars Jonathan Woodward. Email me if you're interested (profile addy is good).

How in the world have I never heard about Repo! The Genetic Opera until now?! A movie with Anthony Stewart Head singing?! I watched the preview and it's now at the top of my Netflix queue. Has anyone seen it? I'm hoping it's going to be as awesome as it looks!

Hey. New board.

It also has Paris Hilton. I didn't actually see it, but I wouldn't get your hopes up too high.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I own it on Blue-Ray, because I think it's ridiculously full of schlock, camp, and bombast, and I have a weakness for such things.
